While our parent company, Sykes Enterprises, Inc. has over 40 years of delivering customer service solutions to major, established corporations and rising stars, SYKES Fulfilment Services has a rich history going back considerably further.
In 1845, a local printer was established in Galashiels in the Scottish Borders and, until the 1970s, supplied the local textile industry with stationery and printed marketing materials. The rise in desktop computing created new opportunities and the business grew significantly through the 1980s, adding new services such as media replication, software localisation, product assembly, product storage, and distribution to reseller channels.
These products needed customer support, so call centre services were also added to the portfolio, making the company a diverse, interesting and progressive service provider.
The acquisition by Sykes Enterprises Inc. was completed in 1997 and, from there, the business grew further through the internet and the e-commerce revolution. In addition to the ability to assemble, pick, pack and distribute products for the business to business channel (B2B), new capabilities to tailor and personalise orders for the business to consumer channel (B2C) were added and complemented B2C customer service activities.
SYKES Fulfilment Services has further enhanced solutions by including online order management, payment/refund processing, multilingual customer support and tax management.
